A wonderful
thing about mangaka is that they are not only authors, but they are artists as well. In fact, mangaka show their distinction
between each other from their artwork.
Yasuhiro Nightow
has shows a beautiful wide array of depth in his artwork. His detail into technological devices and weaponry shows
how much he likes science fiction. However, it is through his characters that he can trigger emotional responses
from the readers. Nightow can shift emotional direction in his manga by manipulating the lightness or value of
black and white color. Darker shading is done to depict intensity, and tinting with his white color is to show positive
emotion or comedy. Trigun plays back and forth constantly with drama and comedy.
Mangaka do not usually
color their artwork due to time constraints and if a manga is going to be brought into anime there is another specialty
of artists who will work solely in coloring. Yasuhiro Nightow does color his covers and some defining scenes in the
manga, but most of his drawings remain in black and white.
